Happy Thanksgving

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year is very different for us this year. I have done two Thanksgivings without Jon so far. One with no children and the other I only had Tyler but I hate he is missing Thanksgiving with both boys.

I am so Thankful that God blessed with me with such an amazing husband and our boys with a wonderful father. I am also thankful for the person he is and all that he is sacrificing! All of our deployed soldiers are sacrificing so much for our freedom and for our country.

I am thankful that I am able to hug my boys tomorrow and tell them that mommy and daddy love them. They are precious angels sent from God and I will never take them for granted.  They are both truly miracles! Between infertility treatments and NICU stays I will never take a moment with them for granted. Tyler's bubbly personality and Walker's precious smile can make the worst day better.

I am thankful for Jesus Christ and his love for me. Without him I would be nothing.

I am thankful for having a loving family that I can come home to and spend Thanksgiving with. I am heartbroken that my Nana is not able to be with us this year since she is in rehab but we are taking her a plate and going to spend a little time with her for the holiday. She is sweet, Godly women and she is struggling!

I am thankful for getting to spend time and see Jon's family, well most of them. It is nice to be able to have a second family that love you and treat you like your own. We all live spread out all over the country but it is nice to come together and catch up around the holidays. It was also great that we were all able to Skype with Jon together yesterday.

I am thankful for technology! This deployment would be so different without Skype. It may have a fuzzy picture sometimes, freeze up, and the sound break up but having done two without Skype I am super thankful for it. I can see his face, his loving smile and blow him kisses. It is amazing to me!!!! Watching Tyler talk to his daddy is one of the most amazing things in this world. He loves his daddy so much and he gets sad sometimes but it is the sweetest thing you have ever seen when he looks at him and says "I Love You, Daddy". My heart truly melts. Walker has started smiling when he sees Daddy and Jon has got to watch him do some tricks on Skype. That helps when he is missing so much!

I am thankful for my military family. There is no one like them and no one understands truly how we live like other military spouses. Life is different for us and it is amazing to have friends from all over to be there for you and back you up. I have a good support system for when you need a shoulder to cry on. We are all in this together.

Please remember and Pray for all the troops overseas or away from there families for the holidays.

Hope you have a Blessed Thanksgiving

Walker is 4 Months

Walker is 4 months old!

WOW, how did this happen so quickly? I completely missed month 3, oops!

4 Months

Height: 23 and 3/4 inches long (6th percentile)

Weight: 13 pounds and 15 ounces (24th percentile)

Food: You drink 8 ounces every 3 1/2 to 4 hours of formula and have a bowl of cereal at dinner time. We started foods a little early because you were starving! :) You had Prunes and Apples before you turned 4 months because you were having to drink the juice anyway for other issues you have. When you turned 4 months last week you had Green beans and yesterday you started peas. You love to eat and are very funny to watch. You eat so fast and fuss between when the spoon is hitting your mouth.

Words: You are cooing up at storm and laughing out loud now. You are not old enough for words yet but I just love to hear you coo and make sounds. You coo more than other brother ever did and it is so precious!

Activities: You can roll from tummy to your back and back to your tummy. You also like to take your toes and push your self across the floor. You want to sit up so bad but you are not quite there! :) You have found your hands and your tongue. It is so cute when you stick your tongue out. Your hands now stay in your mouth if you are not sleeping and even now you have started sucking your thumb when you are napping. I am sure you would suck your thumb when you sleep at night if you were not swaddled. You are also starting to reach for toys.

Clothes: You are finally starting to wear 0-3 months but some of your newborn's still fit.

Diapers: You wear a size 1 and probably will for a while.

Shoes: You wear a size 0 and you can still wear some Preemie size socks.

Sleep: You sleep 13 hours most nights. You are ready for bed at 7 and you sleep completely through the night. You are the best sleeper and I love it!

Kyle Comfort 5K

3rd Annual Kyle Comfort 5K

Last weekend I participated in my first 5K. I ran/walked with both boys in tow. I pushed the double stroller and I did it! I finished. I had to stop a few times for Walker and not far into to it Tyler started crying to get out. He ran so hard right beside me! I was so proud of him for running 3/4th's of the 5K! That is a lot for a 3 year old. It was a lot for me! HA! I was very proud of myself for finishing and for Tyler but most important I was proud of dear friend Brooke for hosting it. Brooke lost her husband 3 1/2 years ago in Afghanistan. She is the bravest women I know! They had a sweet little girl Kinleigh, who was not even a year old when Kyle got killed. I can not imagine what she goes through everyday! Brooke started a charity group to give back and the big fundraiser is this race. She did a amazing job with it and I was very proud to participate! I can not wait to do it again next year with my soldier in tow!

BBQ-Pulled Pork
-I am a southern girl and we love barbeque here. I have being using this recipe for a long time. She uses root beer but lists that you can use Dr. Pepper or Coke and that is all I have used. Some say Diet Pepsi works but no Pepsi products in our house so I do not plan on cooking with it anytime soon. Enjoy!

Uses for Pulled Pork:
BBQ Nacho's
Stuffed Baked Potato's
Sandwiches
Pulled Pork Taco's

It is Fall and thanks to Hurricane Sandy it has been FREEZING at my house this week! I am not digging it at all! I do not like the cold weather and I am a little worried with the weather man already saying we are going to have a very harsh winter! Hopefully that season will fly by and we will be back to warm weather and even closer to my hubby coming home. With Fall and cooler weather I tend to make lots of soup so here are some of my favorites! Enjoy!!!!

1. Broccoli & Cheese Soup

2. Tomato Soup
One of our favorites at this house! We always have it with Grilled Cheese sandwiches!

3. Potato Soup
This recipe is close to the one I use.
